Kitchen ideas coming together.  Love this backsplash.

Nice find shutterhoney! It’s hard to find a backsplash that is finished well with the upper and lower cabinets aligning.

Remodeling? Don’t Forget the Permit

charlotterust:

I am frequently asked questions, by both buyers and sellers, around the issue of permits.

It may be an owner who is trying to sell their home and work has been completed without permits, or a potential buyer who is faced with a home they really like but it lacks some permits.

Inbound Marketing vs. Outbound Marketing

aibd:

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably noticed this thing called the Internet. Thanks to it, small business owners are learning that consumers no longer rely on newspaper ads, radio spots and billboard advertising - a.k.a. outbound marketing - to learn about new products….

Video Testimonials: Point, Shoot, Then What?

On the surface, video testimonials are an easy, cheap, engaging and ideal way for remodelers to capture their clients’ enthusiasm and endorsements — in the comfort of their remodeled homes, no less — and then share them with interested prospects.

That doesn’t mean all remodeling video testimonials are easy, cheap, engaging or ideal— or necessarily interesting to prospects, for that matter.

Ed Cholfin and Emily Smith of AK Complete Home Renovations, in the Atlanta area, are working on making the most of video testimonials on a tight budget. The company has produced three so far, for the most part using nothing more than a tripod-mounted Flip camera, Windows Live Movie Maker software and a few hours of staff time.

Another sales tool for the remodeler?

Carbon monoxide, mold, lead paint, poltergeist…what? The issues facing remodelers seems to grow from year to year. Not only do builders have to be “mold-busters” but “ghost-busters” too?  In observance of Halloween yesterday, This Old House Online had an interesting blog post on the subject.

2011 Kitchen #Remodel over $100,000

Kitchen Remodel Midwest WinnerMidwest Winner

Creating a warm, yet modern, kitchen involved a vast selection of textures and colors. The kitchen pops with high gloss eggplant cabinetry that is surrounded by a backsplash of violet-flecked iridescent tiles. The range is topped by a swing out hood that is a work of art in itself. Black walnut counter tops flank the cooking surface for functionality and warmth. The stainless steel sink and counter top adds a minimal feeling to this design. An elevated glass bar serves as a divider between the kitchen and the adjacent dining room and is great for grabbing a quick meal.
